Why Summertime Is the Perfect Time for Your Child’s First Visit
Does your child have his or her first tooth yet? Is he or she getting ready to start preschool or kindergarten in the fall? If you answered yes to either of these questions, this summer is the perfect time to schedule your child’s first visit for dental prevention. At Sunshine Smiles, we can help ensure your child’s teeth and jaw are developing normally, and give you the peace of mind doing it now rather than later.
Best Age To Have Your Child’s First Dental Visit
We recommend that all children have their first dental visit around the time they get their first tooth, or by the time they are between one and two years of age. However, you can also schedule your child’s first dental visit if you suspect oral health or teeth developmental problems. Paying attention to their jaw and facial structure is what helps parents spot that their child might need to come in for consultation sooner than expected.
Enjoy a Calm, Convenient First Dental Appointment Experience
Since the school year can be especially hectic for parents, especially if you have other children, we typically recommend scheduling first visits during the summer, before they go back to school. This is because parents and children are more relaxed and have more time. You can schedule an appointment that works with your work and home schedule, and that is least disruptive to your child’s daily routine.
You may even have time to visit our office with your child prior to your first appointment in order to familiarize your child with our office and staff. Doing this helps your child feel more comfortable on the day of our appointment and gives them an opportunity to look at all the fun toys in our waiting room.
